1.
when we meet on the other shore |
|
|
when hope is
around the bend
but your wits are at their end
and those starry-eyed people
are playing like they're your friends
dont let it get you down
have yourself another round
and when we meet on the other shore
they will bother you no more
if i ever lost
you
i don't know what i would do
if when i woke up you were gone
i just wouldnt have a clue
i would lock myself away
and pray for my dying day
and when we meet on the other shore
i'll be missing you no more
when i sleep i
have no fear
in my dreams your always near
and the shadows of your eyes
will never dissapear
and though the longing may be great
i know it is not our fate
'cause when we meet on the other shore
i will long for you no more

2.
i'm not taking this well at all |
|
|
i was half
sleeping when i noticed your face
shining straight into my room
i opened the window and tried to embrace
what i found out was only the moon
it stood with the
stars in such high regards
it made me feel so small
and it secured right then what i'd known time and
again
i'm not taking this well at all
now i'm
remembering not so long ago
when you would still hold me tight
and now as i shiver though the room is not cold
i'm wondering who you're holding tonight
and if he's the
one you've been holding out for
while you were holding my hands
i wonder if he will miss you as i do
when he can't meet all your demands
now time is crook
so i'm deep in a book
playing victim to it while i can
but in every story the hero is rooked
by the heart of the sweet heroine
i wished i had
known it was a tragedy
before i'd got so involved
but just like the hero who goes mad in the end
i'm not taking this well at all

3.
waiting at the station (#2) |
|
|
she stood waiting at the station
for that evening train to arrive
holding tightly to the railings
sweeping the hair from her eyes
she noticed the smoke in the distance
on the horizon a single white light
carrying her dress she ran down the tracks
to where we'd begun to unload
i stepped out and her eyes didn't blink
and i felt my insides explode
she was waiting for another man
who happened to be right behind me
i hung my head down and shut my eyes
and tried my best to breath
i grabbed the letters from my coat pocket
she'd written me every other day
and let them fall from my trembling hands
and watched them float away
i
made my way far from the station
and heard that whistle sound

4.
outside your window |
|
|
throw off the bed
sheets and hold yourself warmly
passionately and still
dont cry for anyone tonight
there's no place for your tears to spill
sing yourself to sleep now
dont think of the words you wish you'd killed
someone will be there for you come morning
Lord knows at least i will
i will always
want you
just as i do tonight
i know you're not thinking of me
'cause someone else has got your eyes
but if things don't work out
yeah, if nothings going right
just call out for me from your window
i'll still be waiting outside

5.
i don't want you anymore |
|
|
what do you gain
from coming 'round here again?
trying to act like you're still more than a friend
just don't get to thinking there's more for you in
store
it's all over now, i don't want you anymore
if you've come
here to find out how i've been
i'll gladly let you in on everything
i won't act up or choke up like all those times
before
cause it's all over now, i don't want you anymore
why can't you see
it's over
i've got nothing left to profess
your words they may spark something
oh, but nothing's worth this mess
i
don't know what you gain from crying here
i
don't think that i should even care
when
you've done me wrong now for so long it's becoming such a
bore
and
it's all over now, i don't want you anymore

6.
calling you out |
|
|
ol' boss, you've
got nothing on me now
and i'm standing up and calling you out
i gave you my time
for your peace of mind
but boss you ain't taking mine now
ol' world, you've
got nothing on me now
and i'm standing up and calling you out
you tried constantly
to make a fool out of me
but world you ain't breaking me now
ol' death, you've
got nothing on me now
and i'm standing up and calling you out
you may take my friends
to their early ends
but death you ain't taking me now

requiem for john fahey |
|
|
(instrumental)
- somewhat "borrowed" from Mr. Fahey, who
in turn
probably "borrowed" it from another source(s)..

8.
in the shadow of the Lord |
|
|
i may walk and
lie in the warm sunshine
and i may dance and sing under the cool moonlight
but i'll always stand in the shadow of the Lord
i will stand in the shadow of the Lord
i may walk in
darkness and i may walk in sin
i may be on the outside always looking in
but i'll always stand in the shadow of the Lord
i will stand in the shadow of the Lord
we are renegades,
we are refugees
we're no kings nor queens, nor anything in between
we are not of this world, oh Lord
we are not of this world
